I'm still having fun, making all this "stuff". My little apartment is getting full of sparkly pretties, and I'm giving some of them away. I'm making new internet friends, and reconnecting with people I haven't heard from in a long time. Some days are easy, and some are hard. There are days when I spend hours looking through my books or on the internet for ideas, and days when it takes me 15 minutes from beginning the project, to taking the pic, to posting it here. I create almost exclusively at night, before I go to bed. It's become a bedtime ritual.
So far, I've just been having fun with making things. I'm simply creating. I try to get myself out of the way, and let the beadwork, or whatever I'm making, happen. Designing for kits or classes is a little different. I take notes on each step so that I can duplicate the results, and then teach someone else how to make the same thing. My intentions are to "invent" new crafts or jewelry, and eventually, to make new kits, write new books, and/or teach classes. It all takes time!

6/01/03 June, already! Yikes!!!! I made another bracelet to match yesterday's. I needed one for the other wrist. They feel so good on.... What a difference those vitamins make! Don't let me forget to take them! :) M-5 C-3 F-5 |

6/02/03 I went to the "UFO" archives today, and finished this lo-o-o-ong necklace. The colors were picked out to go with a dress I wore a lot - about 10 years (!) ago... The dress is still hanging in my closet, too, though I haven't worn it in 4 years or so. Oh well, at least the necklace is finished. Who says I procrastinate? :) M-5 C-3 F-4 |

6/03/03 Several people have asked if I know how to make "those crystal hearts" - so I figured I'd try one - from memory. This is my first attempt - obviously NOT the result I was going for. But I learned from it, and I think I know what to do now. I'll save that for a later project. M-5 C-3 F-3 |

6/04/03 This one's going on my keys! M-5 C-3 F-4 |

6/05/03 Here's a pair of starry earrings, using gold-filled wire, quartz and blue stone stars, and Austrian crystals. M-5 C-3 F-5 |

6/06/03 This is a talisman for a friend. I guess I just don't have much to say these last few days... M-4 C-1 F-5 |

6/07/03 Another talisman - this one is made from a guitar string. The stones are carnelian, amber, hematite, and tiger's eye. M-5 C-1 F-5 |

6/08/03 Here's a magic wand made from the same guitar string. It's sproingy! I'm fascinated by the spring steel wire. It's also slightly magnetic - it was tricky stringing the antique steel cut beads. It's about 4" long. M-5 C-1 F-0 (24 hr fast) |

6/09/03 I tried something different on this stretch bracelet - I tied a knot, instead of using a crimp bead. We'll see how long it lasts... M-4 C-1 F-5 |
|
6/10/03 Wow - the picture just doesn't do this one justice! It's so glittery and sparkly in the bead flesh... This little netted amulet bag is from the UFO* archives. It's nice to finally have it done! I tend to play with the fringe, and wear it out, so I always put aside a tiny ziplock bag of repair beads, just in case the pouch ever needs to be fixed. 6/11/03 Here's a little bug that I got from the beadwork site at About.com. It's supposed to be a dragonfly, but mine looks more like a gnat or a butterfly. It's kind of cute!

6/12/03 This dainty pair of earrings will probably be my sister's birthday gift. I hope she doesn't peek! The pic makes them look orange, but they're really a lovely shade of peach. I'll be away for a couple of days, but I'm taking my beads, so I'll post when I get back...

6/16/03 I had soooo much fun camping in the Laguna Mountains of California over the weekend! It was a total soul renewal. I took beads and elastic, and let anyone who wanted to make themselves a bracelet. I may have created a few new bead addicts! :) While I didn't complete anything material, I did bead a little. I hiked through the woods, and sang (!) around the campfire, and talked until sunrise. I made new friends, and got to know other friends better. I taught a 12-year-old guy how to make a peyote stitched pouch. He amazed us all with his skill, patience, and persistence, and actually finished his little pouch in one afternoon. I wish I had gotten a picture for you to see. For today's creation, I made a "magic square" book of photos from the weekend. Good memories!

6/18/03 I'm working on a leaf TinyPouch. It's not finished yet, but here are the earrings that go with it. M-7 C-3 F-5 V-1 E-1 |

6/19/03 For Mother's Day, my daughter gave me a "1000 crane" origami set - lots of 2" squares of origami paper, with the folding instructions for the crane. I folded my first one today... I don't think there are 1000 pieces of paper, but it's so tiny and cute! M-7 C-3 F-4 V-2 E-0 |

6/20/03 I made 3 more books as thank-you gifts for my friends that invited me camping last weekend... M-7 C-3 F-4 V-2 E-6 (Friday night dancing wth my girlfriends) |

6/21/03 Here's the birthday gift for my other sister. Two June birthdays! One's a Gemini, the other is a Cancer. M-8 C-3 F-3 V-2 E-6 (Ok - So I went out tonight, too.... I love to dance!) |

6/23/03 I had a rebellion yesterday... I refused to make anything. And I let myself get away with it! :) Today I made a bookmark. The waxed linen thread goes between the pages, and the beads hang out and look pretty. M-5 C-3 F-4 V-2 E-0 |

6/24/03 Here's a bracelet to go with the TinyPouch I'm working on.... I'm having a terribly hard time lately, forcing myself to make something. I'm getting tired of the instant gratification goodies, but I'm not allowing myself enough time to work on a larger project. Hmmm......

6/26/03 I'm sill having a hard time with this.... could I just say made my dinner? :) So I made an Origami spider out of blue foil paper. I need some practice! It doesn't look too bad in the pic, but the folds are not very straight, and I rubbed off some of the foil by creasing too hard. M-5 C-1 F-4 V-0 E-1.5 |

6/28/03 I needed something to display all my pouches, so today I made a wall rack out of copper wire... It's basically a big squiggle. I think I'll make another one, only this time I'll add some BEADS! M-6 C-1 F-4 V-2 E-1 |
